Antonio Swad was only 15 years old when he became passionately interested in the restaurant industry. Like most successful business owners, Antonio started at the bottom, in his case, as a dishwasher.

In 1986 he started a take-out pizza restaurant. But, the market was saturated with pizza places, so Antonio made the switch to the wing business. You’ve probably heard the saying, “look for a job while you’ve still got a job.” That’s what Antonio did. He began giving out wing samples at his pizza restaurant. But, he saw wings as more than an appetizer or a side dish, he saw them as the main feature on a dinner plate.

The First Wingstop Opened in Garland, Texas, in 1994

Franchises open…
In 1997, the first franchised Wingstop opened. The brand was a huge success and quickly expanded across the United States.

In the beginning, Wingstop was only open from 4 p.m. to midnight, but in 2005, the restaurant opened for lunch. Today most Wingstop locations are open from 11 AM to midnight.

Today, there are more than 1,368 Wingstop restaurants in the United States!

The concept of “Wings”…
Step inside a Wingstop restaurant and try not to let your jaw drop. The restaurants are decorated following a 1930s and 1940s pre-jet aviation theme, with plane parts sourced from junkyards. In recent years, the restaurants have been updated to a brighter, more modern aesthetic.

Imagine: 11 flavours of made-to-order wings sauced-and-tossed by hand and hand-cut, seasoned fries.

Some of the Wingstop flavours include:
Lemon Pepper, Original Hot – the first sauced-and-tossed – Cajun,
Atomic, Mild, Hawaiian BBQ, Teriyaki and Garlic Parmesan. Add to that Wingstop’s limited time offer flavours. “Serve the World Flavor” pretty much says it all!

Wingstop “was the third-fastest-growing restaurant chain in the US in 2015, according to Nation’s Restaurant News.” The restaurant chain aims to reach 2,500 locations in the US.

As of June 2018, Wingstop had locations in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Panama, Russia, 
Singapore, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, France, and United Arab Emirates.
