Scooter’s Coffee: Amazing People, Amazing Drinks… Amazingly Fast

Scooters Coffee was founded in 1998 in Bellevue, Nebraska.
About 25 years ago, in 1998, to be exact, Don and Linda Eckles got an idea. It had to do with serving hot and delicious coffee to busy people in a fast and convenient way.
While coffee houses and gourmet coffee were hugely popular, not everyone had the time to sit down to enjoy a cup of coffee. One day, Don and Linda Eckles came across a drive-thru coffee house and they got the idea to open a drive-thru coffee hut with coffeehouse-quality coffee. Scooter’s Coffee was born!
The first Scooter’s Coffee location was in Bellevue, Nebraska. The plan was simple: a great location; high-quality coffee; speedy service and a great big smile. Customers loved it.
Scooter’s Coffee locations were opening all around the Omaha area and by 2001, with the demand for Scooter’s coffee growing, Don and Linda began franchising. The first Scooter’s Coffee franchise location opened in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
There are currently 541 Scooter’s Coffee locations throughout the country.
The first Scooter’s Coffee location was known as “Scooter’s Java Express.” Linda worked the drive-thru window while Don ground and brewed the beans.
The name, Scooter’s, was based on the idea that customers would be able to “scoot in and scoot out” with their coffee.
Scooter’s name was was eventually updated to Scooter’s Coffeehouse to appeal to a more sophisticated audience that appreciates a high-quality cup of coffee.
The logo redesign helped to establish Scooter’s as a provider of exceptional coffeehouse products.
2011 The brand name was shortened to simply “Scooter’s Coffee.”
In addition to traditional coffees, Scooter’s also serves espressos, speciality lattes, frozen smoothies, traditional teas and latte teas.
