P.F. Chang’s was founded in Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1993, by Paul Fleming and Philip Chiang.
Philip Chiang is the son of the late Cecilia Sun Yun Chiang (1920-2020), a well-known restauranteur and chef and founder of the Mandarin restaurant chain.
P.F. Chang’s is a trendy Asian-themed restaurant with locations right across the United States. The first restaurant was opened at the Scottsdale Fashion Square in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1993. Also in that year, P.F. Chang’s acquired four bistro restaurants and formed China Bistro, Inc.

The menu features American Chinese dishes and is described as Asian flavours.
In 2010, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro Home Menu became available in supermarkets, providing customers with a variety of frozen appetizers and meals.
Private investment firm, Centerbridge Partners, acquired P.F. Chang’s in 2012 for $1.1 billion.
In March, 2019, TriArtisan Capital Advisors acquired P.F. Chang’s from Centerbridge.
