Established in 2002, Massage Envy Franchising LLC is an American massage and skin care national franchisor based in Scottsdale, Arizona.

As the largest provider of therapeutic massages and skin care in the United States, Massage Envy has 1,035 independently owned and operated franchise locations, as of 2022.

Massage Envy’s 1,035 franchisees are collectively the country’s largest employer of massage therapists and estheticians. As a national franchisor, Massage Envy does not independently own or operate any of the Massage Envy franchised locations nationwide. 

Massage Envy provides a range of services which includes facials, skin peels, microderm infusion, stretch therapy and skin care products, all in addition to massage therapy.

Massage Envy was founded in 2002 and began franchising in 2003. By late 2008, the number of Massage Envy franchisees had grown to 420 in 36 states, employing 8,000 professionals.

In 2009 Massage Envy added facials and other spa services. The business grew steadily, and by 2010 there were about 650 franchised locations in the United States.

Forbes ranked Massage Envy number 20 on their 2012 list of “Top 20 Franchises for the Buck.” 


As of June 2022, there are 1,035 locations in 49 U.S. states.


Skin Care Products

In 2018, the company announced a private label skin care brand CyMe (pronounced “see me”), which accounted for approximately seven percent of the company’s business.

In December 2018, Massage Envy announced a partnership with the Cortiva Institute to provide development and employment opportunities for Cortiva graduates at Massage Envy clinics.

In 2017 and 2018, Massage Envy sponsored the PGA Tour and served as the “official total body care sponsor” of Player Performance Centers, mobile trailers staffed with chiropractors, personal trainers and physical therapy professionals to administer massage and stretch therapy to players.
