Canadian Tire Store Map

Canadian Tire, from humble beginnings to a Canadian giant
Way back in the Roaring Twenties, 1920, to be exact, the Canadian automobile industry began to boom as the demand for cars rose. For the Billes brothers of Toronto, opportunity didn’t have to knock twice. In 1922, John and Alfred Billes pooled their life savings of $1,800 and bought the Hamilton Tire and Garage Ltd. store at the corner of Gerrard and Hamilton Streets in Toronto. Their investment not only paid off, but paved the way to Canada’s beloved Canadian Tire stores.

The next year (1923), the Billes brothers’ Canadian Tire Corporation opened the doors to its first large store, at the corner of Yonge and Gould Streets in Toronto. And, as they say, the rest is history.
Today, the Canadian Tire Family of Companies includes Canadian Tire retail stores, PartSource, Gas+, FGL Sports (Sport Chek, Hockey Experts, Sports Experts,National Sports, Intersport, Pro Hockey Life and Atmosphere), Mark’s, Canadian Tire Financial Services, CT REIT and Canadian Tire Jumpstart, a nationally registered charity that brings much needed help to underprivileged children.
Not bad for an $1,800 investment.
