Founded in 1982, Ardene, pronounced “ar-den” and not “ar-deen,” is a family-owned Canadian fashion retailer based in Montreal, Quebec. From its humble beginning as a small accessories and jewelry store, Ardene has grown into a full fashion retailer, adding clothing, shoes, licensed apparel and brand collaborations into its product line.
By 2,009, the average store had grown from 500 sq ft to over 4,000 sq. ft.
The company currently operates over 288 stores in Canada, with about another 70 in the United States and the Middle East (Oman, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates). Altogether, the company has over 2 million square feet of retail space.
Ardene employs over 3,500 people across Canada.

In 2017, Ardene began introducing larger stores of about 20,000 sq ft.
In 2012, Ardene entered the online marketplace with ardene.com.
Ardene, Staten Island, New York, opened in 2018.
