It’s been a tumultuous year in the retail industry, with many retailers closing stores, merging and expanding.

As e-commerce grows and shoppers make more and more purchases on-line, the brick-and-mortar stores have taken a hit. Some of the big name retailers such as Sears and Toys ‘R Us have shut down. But, as they close, brand new ones take the spotlight. Dollar stores, for example, are the fastest growing retailers on the planet and Ulta Beauty planned to open 100 new retail locations in 2018.

Research shows that, while online shopping is hot–really hot, store front retailers are a very long way from extinction. Many shoppers buy on-line and pick up their purchases in the store. And, there are just so many things that we need to touch, taste and try on before buying. It looks like we’ll be scraping retail data locations far into the future.

And, now, it’s time to get to work!

From all of us here at Red Lion Data, Happy New Year! We’re looking forward to a very successful 2019 as we work with you to meet your business needs. All the best to you and your families.
